Ski boots on and off you go. Around Obergurgl and Hochgurgl, one of Austria’s highest ski areas awaits with 112 kilometres of pistes and 25 lifts. Between 1,800 and 3,030 metres above sea level, wide slopes, challenging descents and long runs lead through the high-alpine winter landscape.

And the best part: from the abitare chalets, it is only a short way to the slopes. So your winter day can begin whenever you are ready – and in the afternoon, it is back to your own apartment.

Winter & Snowshoe Hiking

It does not always have to be about the ski slopes. If you prefer to experience winter at a gentler pace, there are plenty of opportunities around Gurgl for walks, winter hikes and snowshoe tours.

In Obergurgl and Hochgurgl, groomed trails await both classic cross-country skiers and skaters. Perfect for anyone who would like to swap their skis for narrower ones for a while and experience winter from a different perspective.

Tobogganing & Sledging

Sometimes, all you need for a great winter evening is a sledge, a snow-covered run and a little appetite for speed.

The natural toboggan run in Hochgurgl stretches for around three kilometres down into the valley. It becomes especially atmospheric in the evening, when the run is illuminated and the winter sky stretches out above you.

A wonderful experience for families, friends and anyone who enjoys a little speed even without skis.

Ski Touring

Fresh snow, the sound of your own breath and step by step towards the top. Ski touring is one of the most intense ways to experience the winter landscape around Gurgl.

The high-alpine terrain of the Ötztal offers a wide range of routes – from gentler ascents to more demanding tours for experienced ski tourers.

Anyone venturing beyond secured pistes should have the appropriate experience and equipment, take current snow and avalanche conditions into account, and plan their tour accordingly.

Ice Skating & Curling

Fancy a little change from skiing and snowboarding? Winter in Gurgl can be enjoyed on the ice too.

Glide around the rink or try your hand at traditional curling. Especially in the afternoon or evening, it is a lovely alternative to a day on the slopes – relaxed, sociable and great fun for the whole family.
